Cool prison...
A couple of months ago I got the opportunity to walk around, with my camera and 11 other photographers, in the beautiful empty prison in my home town. Even the famous Dutch resistance hero Hannie Schaft has been kept locked in here by hte Germans in WW2. I have been biking past this building since I was born. For years now there are no prisoners kept in there anymore and it's been used to house refugees and now it's totally empty.
They are planning to create an university in there, after adjusting the inside of the building. The accoustic in the center of the main hall is really crazy, it would drive many man crazy being kept prison there. Even the guards needed rest after their shift. One guard would sit in his car for half an hour enjoying the silence, before driving home to his family. I just love this building.

This old beautiful Peugeot 404, we found on the side of the road in France this summer. My hunt for sleeping beauties never stops. Wherever We go I keep my eyes open like a hawk to spot these sleepers and catch them with my cameras.

Cool recycling...

In France, on our way home, we stayed the night in a hotel after riding 500 kilometers that day. The lobby of that hotel was filled with 'recycle-art'. Oil drums transferred into seats, bicycle double folded and sprayed silver as a side table. Here you see the re-use of traffic signs, build into a table on wheels.

Cool building...

Last night I visited one of my company's  client's office warming in this building. I visited this building (formal sugar cane storages, converted into offices) before to take pictures of it and again now I could not resist to catch them on my internal sd-card of my smartphone...

Cool hidden treasures...

Holiday season is always a good time for me... Always finding hidden treasures somewere... This time it was right under my nose, behind the barn on the campsite... Three cars about to be taken over by nature... One of them, this nice Fiat truck...

Cool holiday encounters...

Almost every vacation we run into sleeping beauties... Also this vacation in France, three of them sleeping in an open barn next to the road in a village... Yeah, what can you do but stop and catch them...! Here's a Citroen CX, late eighties...

Cool group of heroes...!

Here is a very cool pica of a cool dude, a hero to me... Close to liberating the Netherlands this pica is taken in the South of the country... Young men risking their lifes to come over and fight for our freedom, from all over the world young men (and women) left their homes and came to side of the world to liberate us from nazi Germany...
Every year we remember the ones who didn't live to tell... Foreign soldiers but also the countries heroes from the resistance... The next day, May 5th, we celebrate our freedom...
A big thank you to all of them fighting for our freedom...

Cool statue...

Another piece of art we ran into Sunday on another annual sickle expo overhere in the Netherlands... The call it the start of the season but I wonder when the season ends then? This custom build sickle is welded-up sheet metal, the rider is made of recycled glass, kept together by metal wire... Nice one!

Going underground...
Hitting the treasure chambers, that's how it feld last Saturday. Son and me went shoppping for son's new shoes and parked the car in an underground parking underneath an old militairy base in my old hometown...
Entering we were surprised by the amount of classic cars parked there. Most of them obivously collecting dust down there. Some of the owners bought special covers for their treasures, this owner just stole some bedsheet from the cupboard and stitched the together...
I bet the wife is pretty angry when she discovers where her pretty yellow sheets went...

Uncool first snow...

After yesterdays (and todays high water) serious storm, more winter weather arrived overhere in the low lands. Just saw the first snow of this month...
Salty roads and a nice looking bike don't go together, if you want to keep her looking good... I think I have to putt her into hybernation till the roads are clean again... More because I want to keep the sickle good than I couldn't stand the cold, cause I can... (if you read winter posts of previous years...)

Last ride of the season...?

Yesterday, the wife and the kids went to do their own thing... I got on The Old Gall and rode around our province/state for a couple of hours... Enjoying the good weather and the wind in my face...
This might have been the last ride of the season (on this sickle - commuting is done on the new Young Geisha, the black Honda Varadero)... I got as North as possible (me thinks) in the state without taking the boat to the Northen island...

(barelly being legal, one meter futher and I would be in trouble... not...)

Shed build...

Ran into the shed build/customised Honda 750 Four... rebuild as a cafe-racer and nicely done as well... I like the gas cap very much as we like to say...

Hiding her...

When your living on a boat in Amsterdam, you don't have a lot of options for storing your sickle...
I can imagine that these old German beauties are gone rust pretty hard pretty soon if you keep the outdoors like this... But hey, if you don't have a shead or garage you're baggered...

Making my way trough the Net, I ran into this cool pica. A very nice pair of sickles... Look at that design of these rusty beauties... Very nice airstreamers,... is that a word? Now it is... hahaha... I like to call thisone 'Rusty Twins'

Cool old shop...

Walking through a theme village in France, everything was old and they wanted to display life as it was around 1900... They also put a little old garage together... Old cans, old tools, old beautiful car...

Yes...! Been on vacation to France with the family again this year... Every stop at a petrol station is a hunt for cool sickle and car magazines... Here's a little harvest for this year...
The Freeway Special 'Choppers & Bobbers' makes me think about the time I got infected with the sickle virus... Must been around 1980/82, at that time Easyrides magazine looked like that as well...
