This picture is taken back in 1956 (or around that time), it's my mom posing like a biker babe on my dad's Jawa...

Cool Sunday Special...

Here is this weeks winner of the Sunday Special...
Got my scanner working again and here is the first of some old picas of my dad... This is 1952, when he was with the Dutch Royal Air Force in Soesterberg, The Netherlands... He was stationed there as a airplane mechanic... Here is also where he gained his hearing problems... He's the guys second row from the top, first one next to the plane on the right hand side...

Cool new findings...

Went through the old shoe box again and ran into some very cool old pictures (not this one) of my dad... I think 1959 or so when he was with the Royal Airforce... Have to get the old scanner up and running again but when I do... ooh man I will share... very cool!!

Getting his hands dirty...

When my father was drafted (at 21) for his militairy service, he did the course and became a airplane mechanic... Due to this job while he was in the army/airforce he saddly lost a part of his hearing. At the moment I'm struggeling with hearing loss as well so unfortunatly I know how he feld.
Not only my (and my brothers's) 'gettingyourhandsdirty' but also the bad hearing seems to be in the blood...

Cool pica...

Here is another one from the old shoe box... Here is my mom sitting on the hood of my grandfathers Vauxall and my dad giving her picked flowers.
This was on a trip prob in Germany or Luxembourg, they were acompanied by my grandparents. That was common in these days, you couldn't go on a trip the two of ya when you were not married so they had two chaparones. The picture wass taken or by my grandmother or grandfather. Must be around 1956 or so.

Cool vintage biker meeting...

Here's one how they had fun in the early days... a little racing and a lot of spectators on both sides of the street waiting for something to happen... These days, saddly, it's very often only a lot of "Show 'n Shine"... "...See all the chrome I added from the catalog..." What happend to the old black paint spray can or brush...? That's why I like the old school style and the un-restored vintage bikes.

Looks like the guy in the middle is saying:

March 24th...

March 24th was the birthday of my father, he would've turned 78 today only if he didn't pass away (almost) 20 years ago... This is one the last pictures of him... Thisone is in remembrance of him. There you go dad!
