In the neighbour village this week we had the annual festivities for a week. This year the closing main activity was an oldtimer day. On the field next to the old castle old trucks, bicycles, mopets, cars and motorcycles gethered. I ran into this nice one... I have a blister on my finger and a over heated camera...

Every trip we take to foreign countries, I always try to find cool motorcycle magazines. In France most of the time I end up with Freeway and Wild. Nice cool biker mags. This year I ran into this cool mag, standing behind the Wild in the mags stand.

Just another couple of days and then we're off on holiday for a couple of weeks. Just the family and a load of sunshine, rest and a whole lot of doing nothing... ha ha ha ha!
Last year we took our new (to us) family car for a test drive, combined with family visit, to Berlin... The roof on the Potsdammerplatz is prectaculair, for pictures... The trip was a good source for more nice pictures, so more to come...
Our neighbours have some nice free farms with some sheep... little sheads, hai stack and some acres around the farm... But for how long... the neighbourhood is closing in...

Last Saturday I had a vew erron to run; bringing the misses to the hospital for a MRI of het knees (!)... do some shopping, bring daughter to ballet but we were early so we took a d-tour. We went back and I said it might be a nice idea to go by the sea locks, the access point to sea.
This picture (I posted before) show exactly how I feel right now... Wanna get the hell outa here!! It's way to hot in this office/building, sun is shining outside and about 27 degrees Celsius... Sweating like a pig... but maybe that's too much information... Waiting for reply from a customer on a presentation project, projector is running in the main hall of the building (seems like I've been bombarded to a technical support guy... hell no!!) and just want to get out of here and have a nice cool beer...

Is it a piggyback ride or... in this case a swanback ride. A swan mom with her five youngsters... she had her nest next to a bridge on the corner of our street... checking her and her eggs almost every day... now the nest is abandoned, only feathers remain. Here she was looking back to check if I wasn't following them... Cool mom!!

Yes, there is an off-set ring between the engine and the (sanded and polished) primairy case... Also an off-set mounting plate for the transmission.

Over ten years ago, with much joy, I read this book... "4 years around the world... on a motorcycle...". Last year I watched the TV series Long Way Round (and this year Long Way Down) with Ewan McGregor on the BCC. Somewhere in Russia on a local market, they ran into... Ted Simon. Running through boxes on the attic I found this book again... Coming summer family vacation guess what is coming with us to France...? Yep, gonna read this book again!
Yesterday it was a year since I have my Transalp for commuting to Amsterdam (and other place to work on location...) and back home. The clock says I've done 8500 km's on this bike and I did about 2000 on the old American lady. Adding up I come to a 10500 km's for one year, not so bad they say...

Last weekend in Germany, after a days riding, we tried to do a cool village passing way back to the campsite. Loads of people on the main street... Bas saw a couple of young girls in uniform and did something we still don't know what. His front break blocked and his bike ended up on the tarmac. Not only the bike got damaged but also his ego.
Yesterday evening on the news, I found out that David Carradine died at 72 in a hotel room in Bangkok... The actor that played the monk in the series Kung Fu and who played '5 steps' Bill in Kill Bill.
This month it's 65 years ago we had situations like this, when the rest of the world came to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany. Thanx to everyone who helped out to get rid of the crazy Jerries!
It's is time to get my hands dirty with grease and oil again... Last riding weekend I found out some parts of my sickle need TLC (Tender love & Care)... Suspension needs attatention, still bottoming out. The speedo cable broke on the way home, minor detail... The transmission is loosing more oil every day, mmm... prob the main axle bearing behind the primairy... The rearbrake lost oil on my back wheel, needs some attention as well! Anyway, time to play again!
Finally after 3 other campsites we found one with room for four tents and 5 bikes. Near a small village called Dendeborn in Nationalpark Eifel in Germany. We had a very good riding weekend, only sun and no rain.
